Replacement is a novel by Tor Ulven and translated by Kerri A. Pierce, © Dalkey Archive Press 2012
It sounds like it’s beautiful to read, although I’m a little unclear on whether there’s a plot at all. Is the confusion between memory and dreams also connected to the age of the protagonist? Does he seem to realize that the line between the two is blurred?
It’s not a very “self-aware” book, no. It’s more like the protagonist is a filter for ideas and musings and little pieces of enlightenment.
