The idea is simple: little videos, brave books. Every Monday, I’ll be posting a book review in the form of a short video starring me and a piece of contemporary fiction, poetry, or perhaps a stray classic. I am happy to take recommendations, but I don’t have time to review everything so I’ll be reviewing what piques my interest. Hopefully these video reviews will make you laugh and make you think and remind you why you love books. I invite you to join the book chat by leaving lots of comments.

Happy reading.

Found this website through strolling around YouTube and I’m really into it! Great reviews that get me all hot and bothered about reading. Thanks for doing what you’re doing

    • Thank you so much! It’s really rewarding to get a comment like this from a total stranger who’s excited about what I do. Please let me know if you see a book you think would suit this blog. I’m always happy to take recommendations.

What a neat-o project! Hey, and thanks so much for taking the time to look so thoughtfully at LOVE, AN INDEX!

I have followed your book reviews for a while, and I love your personality and approach… And I have a suggestion for a stray classic: Ameen Rihani’s The Book of Khalid (1911), with a new edition from Melville House. I would enjoy your take (and I do not receive royalties!). Peace be with you, Todd

OK, so I gladly only found you because you dad told me he thought I ought to,
but I love and share your “belilderment” and commitment.

I found you!! And I love your reviews – really marries your personality & sense of humor, your love of books, and your deep thoughtfulness! Some really great books that have piqued my interest; now my “hold queue” at the Shirlington Library will grow exponentially!
Thank you for sharing your love of books!

So what sort of books do you read most often? What sort of things do you enjoy most? Tell us about books you have read because you feel you ought to…
Good Luck reviewing and I hope you have fun,

I read a lot of poetry and contemporary fiction, mostly. I just finished Ulysses because I felt I ought to but it turned out more rewarding than I was expecting! Not all old books are a chore for me though; I adored Moby Dick.
